There's not too much on sneezing on this board! Is it considered normal? We've recently noticed Tyson sneezing ALOT , pretty much intermittently all day. He seems to sneeze if he gets excited, if he changes position (i.e. gets off the couch - yes we do allow our 80-pounder on the couch!), if he goes outside (understandable - it's been down to -50 C with the windchill). I've noticed clear fluid running from his nose sometimes but not always. I know nothing about dog colds -do they get them? Also, what's kennel cough? We had him at the kennel last weekend. Thought it could be a low humidity issue? I'm very keen to hear your thoughts!!

Is he coughing at all?
Considering he was just at a kennel, I think I would take him in to the vet and see if whatever it is can be nipped in the butt.
Darby reverse sneezes alot, usually when he gets excited, but I was told not to worry about it.

No, he's not coughing....although I'm not even sure I would recognize a cough? He 'kaks' sometimes, is that a cough?

luvmydog, there is also not much on web sites about sneezing dogs, one site did say they can catch colds like humans and if it continues more than a week to see the vet.
If it persists I would go to the vet, it could be something the the kennel. It doesnt sound like kennel cough, which is a persisant hacking and considering your environment right now, it doesnt sound liek allergies

I also foudn this

Why is my dog sneezing?

Back to FAQ Menu
Question
My dog started sneezing after spending three days with a dog who just spent a week in a kennel. Did she catch a cold?

Answer
There are many upper respiratory viruses and bacteria that can cause sneezing in dogs. These dangers are in much higher concentrations at boarding kennels. Therefore, it is possible that your dog caught the -coldÓ from her friend. The good news is that these upper respiratory infections are usually self-limiting in otherwise healthy adult dogs. In other words, the symptoms should be mild and pass quickly.

There are, however, many things that may cause sneezing in dogs. Among them would be foreign bodies and allergies. If your dog's signs get worse (lethargy, not eating) or you see mucus or yellow-green discharge, contact your veterinarian.

A more common malady after a trip to the kennel is kennel cough. Kennel cough also results from any of a multitude of viruses and bacteria. Dogs exhibit various coughing symptoms, from a mild hack to a very strong cough (which may sound like choking). If you suspect kennel cough in your dog, make sure to visit the veterinarian for treatment

probably just hayfever. my dog once went through a patch of sneezing. tak him to the vet and hell either give you or suggest a good antihistamine.

p.s dont use any of the new generation human antihistamines on pets. only use the old ones.

Thanks so much ! ...I guess we'll keep an eye on him for another couple of days & then take him to the vet if it's no better
