Hi, I have a one year old black lab/pit bull mix. I'd love to get another dog and am wondering if anyone has ANY advice for or against getting another dog. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much IP: Logged |

Hello, I have had Nala (rotty) for 6 years then i decided to get 2 yorkies last year i was a little nervious (size difference and all) but they all get along great they play togather and sleep with me. They (like kids) have their moments but all and all get along great. I think if you could get another dog your dog would have someone to play with and have fun. Although at times my house is like a race track with nala chasing the puppies or the cats you just have to get out of the way quick or they run into you lol IP: Logged |

Rene, Thank you so much for the information. I would just love to have a playmate for Wilson. I'll let you know if I decide to do it. Thanks again! IP: Logged |

I have 2 dogs too. they are the best of friends most of the time. they do play with each other, but not enough for me, they think I am their play toy, which being the cons there was a recent post on this on the cons double the vet and food bills, attention taken away from the other dog wanting needing double the attention walks play time - can you handle 2 I am sure there is more. I also have two dogs, and a couple of puppies, but they are going bye bye soon (the pups) My first one is a mini dauchshund and then my sister gave me a shi tzu as a gift. At first it didn't work out too well, jealousy, dominance issues and all that. But now they are best of friends! If I were you, I would consider an older puppy, puppies are such hard work! but that's just me! Good luck! and what breed are you thinking of getting? Shelters are a great place to get a pet that needs a good home. Susan IP: Logged |

I would definitely go with a female dog from a shelter. We got Wilson at a shelter and I wouldn't think of getting a dog anywhere else. I would also make sure she was a bit older. I really appreciate everyone's advice, it's definitely a lot to think about. IP: Logged |

I have a 7 month old Rottweiler and I was nervous about getting another dog, but I got a Pit Bull puppy (4 months now), and My Rottie loves the Pit Bull, he teats her like it's his baby. It's good to get the oppisite sex, so I've heard. IP: Logged |

I am all for it, getting a second dog has help tremendously with my first dogs separation anxiety. ------------------ IP: Logged |
