Hi, I start feeding my puppies from 4 weeks of age with small amounts a couple of times aday to get them used to eating i also give them puppy milk here in the uk its called whelpi it maybe called something else where you are its a substitute milk for bottlefeeding and weaning puppies you can buy it from any petstore.

A hot water bottle or heat pad placed under there bedding will help keep them warm when the lamp is not on.

Also puppies and mom can be wormed see your vet for correct dosage for there weight as most petstore wormers do not work.

Once the puppies are eating well you can feed them 3-4 times a day small amounts some people feed only 2 times a day its upto the owner and the type and size of dog the larger the breed the more they eat.

Good luck with the litter and hope they give you hours of fun.

Also i will warn you to be prepared for the mess they will make when they first start eating as some puppies like to step in there food heheheh..

Mike.

They are too cute!!!! thanks for sharing!

May I ask you, we had a poster yesterday that purchased a mini pin at a pet shop (not a good idea) but some people don't know that. Anyway she had a question about this breed, I was wondering if you know much about the breed you have? and if so, perhaps you could answer her questions.

Thanks! Susan

And again, too cute!

mike- i have some milk replacement but should i give them some kind of food- i have read somewhere to make some kind of a gruel mixture, but
i was going to buy some puppy weaning food at the petsmart store-
do you think that is ok-
also, susan said you were a breeder? of min pins? do you have a website? I would love to see pic's

also thanks for the hotwater bottle tip-
i had a bad experience with mom when she was
approx. 3 weeks pregnant- i had put a heating pad in her doggy bed- which she loved until one day i heard her scream- she had bit the cord and shocked herself- it scared me to death-thanks, peanut7

HiPenny i breed german shepherds, Sorry to hear about your mommy dog shocking herslef glad her and then pups were ok.

I buy puppy food and feed small amounts frequently. Anything that will be light on the pups stomach is fine buti prefer puppy food that way they get the taste for it straight away bit again this is preference to the owner.

Hi Penny i use both canned and crunchy for my puppies.
With the crunchy i mix a little substitute milk and soften the food a little so its not too hard for there little teeth.
