My 9 month old pug just had surgery. It was for Ischemic Necrosis of the Femoral Head. The surgery was 5 days ago. She now has developed a very nasty infection. I called the vet and he had me pick up some antibiotics and told me to put some ice on her leg. The area around her cut is swollen, red and hot to the touch. She is not eating but is drinkin a bit. She does have a fever. My vet said to bring her in on Wednesday after she is on the antibiotic for a day. Any other advice? I am really worried about her. The area around her cut that is infected is very large. Please help.

I would get her to the vet ASAP and not wait until Wednesday. The wound may need some serious cleaning and may even need a stronger antibiotic once the vet looks at it.
good luck

I was planning on taking her to the vet first thing in the morning...when I posted it was late at night and I could not locate a vet close by with the roads being as icy as they were here. My vet did return my call first thing in the morning and I took her right over. Thank Goodness it was not an infection but she developed a huge pocket of fluid in which he drained. She is feeling much better now and has even started eating again. Thanks for your help!
