Hi! A while back someone had mentioned how I could find a local group with the same breed of dog, or just a small breed goup. Can someone please tell me again how to go about this? I think I would like to join a group, so that Casey (mini dauchy) could have other pets to play with. She has freebie, but I have heard Maisey and Jamiya talk about "flyball" whatever that is. Casey loves to catch things when thrown, but because of the way she's built (her long back) I worry about the jumping. Anyway long story "short" any suggestions?

Thanks! Susan

Hi Susan, Goob does agility with his weenie dog and says she loves it. I have never seen one at a flyball tournament, but I am pretty new to flyball. My flyball captain discourages them from the sport because she says just what you did about their build, the long back and the jumps can lead to back problems, although I don't pretend to know anything about that. Thats her personal opinion and if someone really wanted to join with their dog she would of course be happy to have them on the team. I don't remember the post, but Goob did post something about that and I think he was saying some dashies could play.
There are alot of sports for dogs..Lure coursing is just for terriers I think.
Here is a link to a site that offers a whole list of things to do with your dog: http://www.dog-play.com/

Here is a link to NAFA (North American Flyball Association) http://www.dog-play.com/

and one to my teams site: http://www.flyball.com/x-fidos/

For agility: http://www.nadac.com/
http://www.usdaa.com/

For Rally O: http://www.rallyobedience.com/

Maybe someone else can contribute to these too.

I would look at AKC for breed groups and see what you can find or do a search using "dog clubs" and your local area, see what you come up with.
