Hi Everyone, This is my first time here and I can say with a smile that I had so much fun reading some old postings (August 2002) on what to do with a male dog that is lifting his leg in the house. I nearly had an accident in my chair from laughing so much. I don't feel so alone with our little problem guy. The thing with our little man is he came to us with this problem. He's a beautiful champion Yorkie with jewels. We are going to have him neutered, though it's not intirely because he has marked just about every piece of furniture in the house. He does wear a belly band. I finally ordered some custom made ones (I don't sew) and will have enough to change several times a day. I have even take old receiving blankets and cut them up and tied them on him and called him my Sumo wrestler. I use thin pads and change them every two or three hours. Sometimes he doesn't wet that much and other times he soaks through his nappy. I can't visulize a huge dog wearing one. In fact I was shocked when I was told "Oh by the way he has to wear a diaper." He was given to us by a close friend that raises Yorkie's. She was friends with his breeder who dearly loved him but could not have him and another male in the same house. He and his father fought like crazy. Anyway, thanks for the laugh. My husband had to come see what was so funny that I was laughing so much. Mary Ellen IP: Logged |

Welcome to the board MaryEllen! I was also going to try a belly band for my toy poodle when I first got him because he would mark in my house (depsite being neutered)...I ended up not needing to though because it seems that once he adjusted to his new home he stopped marking. He also marked in his previous home but lived with an another adult male that was not neutered and I think that was a big part of it. IP: Logged |
