Hi! I need help, my dog is a doverman pincher miniture. He is starting to mark his territory outdoors and I know it just a matter of time and he will be doing this in the house. Can anyne tell me how to stop him from doing this in the house? Thank you so very much for you help.He is my first dog I have ever had inside. He is still peeing and having a bowl movement ever now and then. I take him out every couple hours, and he has gotten better.I hope he will soon get where he wount be going in the house. Thank you for any help you can give me. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Getting him neutered is probably one of the best ways to prevent territorial marking in the house. Also, if he is the only dog in the house he will be less likely to mark indoors. IP: Logged |

Yep! What Nern said! Get him neutered. Just because he is marking territory outside does not mean that he will start marking indoors. My male isn't neutered (I need to take care of that!!) and he marks his territory everywhere outdoors but not inside. How old is he? It takes a couple of months to potty train, sometimes a little longer depending on the dog. Take him out frequently(try every hour rather than every couple hours), keep praising the heck out of him and it will happen soon!Good luck! IP: Logged |

I have three males and although they do mark outside...they have never inside. Granted they are neutered, but even before they were, they did not mark in my house. IP: Logged |

LOL Honeybear! Natalie also marks everything on our walks. Before her I'd never seen or heard of a female lifting their leg but she's been doing this since she was about 5 months old. Sometimes I wonder if she picked this behavior up from seeing Sebastian do it...I used to walk her with Sebastian's previous owner when she was a puppy. IP: Logged |

Nern, I know at first I was shocked! I said she must have some male chromozones in her. She didnt learn it from Jake, he didnt start lifting his leg until he was 5 years old after a friend stayed with us for 4 days with their male dog and the rest history honeybear IP: Logged |
