Was looking after someones dog, well they feed a nice mix of Cheap-o dry with a different brand of Cheap-o canned food. I was disgusted today as I opened the canned food and spooned it out.... There before my eyes was a hunk of shredded plastic! We're talking about 3-4 inches of plastic!!!!! Yuck, yuck, yuck! I don't know if I should name the brand, but I sure feel like writing them Jas (who is so happy knowing what ingredients are in my doggies food!!!) IP: Logged |

Hi Jas, I had this situation happen to me quite a while ago but mine had steelwool in it, off all things. I was quite shocked when i found it and rang the company and was quite firm with what i found in it. The Manager or whom it was I was speaking to couldn't believe what I was telling him either. I threw out all the food that I had in these tins and to this day I have never bought that specific brand of food again. After speaking with the manager he asked me what i did with it and I told him that i threw it out and will never buy the product again, and will make sure I tell my friends who buy this to not to buy it anymore. He tried to send me two weeks worth of dog food, and I didn't want to take it, goodness knows what else would i find in it. If my dog had eaten the food and the steelwool with it, I would have no idea what it would have done to her...... Jody IP: Logged |

OMGosh was what I said too. Shocked was more of a understatement i think when i found it, I think i felt more sickened to know that I could have fed Jasper this. Anyway even to this day when i still feed her, i still always find myself checking her food when i dish it out to her. But I'm just making sure she's not eating anything she isn't ment to. Please show the owner what you found, and also please contact the company that makes this food and tell them what you found. It wont hurt them to know that their dog food has more then it should in there. Jody IP: Logged |

HI. Its lucky for us owners that we pay attention when we put our pets food out that we notice these things or there could be alot of accidents. You would think that food was checked while still being processed i was told by a friend that used to work in a petfood factory that before the food was put into tins it went on a conveyer belt and scanned before it got in the tins well i guess not if you guys have found stuff like that in the food. Its not worth thinking about the damage they could have caused to your pets. mike IP: Logged |

Thats terrible. I've heard some others complain of finding plastic peices and bone fragments in some of the cheap canned foods. Its kind of scary. IP: Logged |

You would be very surprised what is in dogfood if you ever get the chance to research it DO IT!!!! I am a college student studying for veterinarian medicine and have researched alot of this kind of stuff. After you research dogfood ask yourself why about 40% -50% of most dogs under the age of 6 die from cancer. i bet you change your dogfood if it is a cheap o brand just ponder it IP: Logged |

Hi lotsOdots, I have spent many years researching the canine diet & what goes in pet foods and am all too well aware of the unpleasentries they contain. This is one reason I switched my own dogs to a raw food diet (many years ago). As I said, it was not my own dog but a dog I was looking after who was fed the cheap-o. Unfortunately that is what the dog came with so I'm not about to change its diet without permission of the owner. We have since had long discussions about diet and the owner is looking into some of the WDJ top ten listed foods! Yea! We're also sending a complaint to the food that contained the plastic. - although seeing it was bad, I am sure the other ingredients in that food a far worse than plastic!!! (UGH!!)
