I recently took in a stray beagle. She was scooting her butt and I saw a little white, rice like, worm.

What kind or worm is it, and can I get a med from a store or pet meds so I don't have to deal with a vet bill?

Sounds like tapeworms. I beleive there is a brand called Tradewinds Tape Worm Tabs that you can get at Petsmart.
Also, you might find Maisey's post below titled "De-worming" helpful.

Yay for you! How kind of you to take her in. I would worm her if she already has them and then if you want use the other method for keeping them away. Do a search on worming too because not too long ago we all talked about it and some good info was posted.
What did you name her?
