I have a 5 year old Carin Terrier about a year ago he was laying on the floor by the couch. He then jumped up with me and stated to shake all over. It lasted a good 4 minets and after he was find and playing with the cats. Then about a month later he was on the floor and winning. He could not use his back leggs he draged them and came towred me winning. I when and sat down near him he wanted up on me.I was afraid off hurting him so got down by him and pet talk softly to him. It lasted a good 5 minets and agin after he was find agin.Well I took him to the vet thay thought Seazers and gave us some meds for it. But I think it may be something else because he has this like 2 or 3 times a month. He now just shakes like a scared dog whould shake. He just shakes he will stand or sit but shake. It last from 3 to 5 minets and like always after words he is find agin like nothing was wrong. When he has this he comes to me winning and wants me to hold him.So I sit on the couch and hold him till he is ready to get down. Iknow it could be seazers but I kinda think it may be something else.I want to be suer befor I go looking for a new vet.If anyone else ever had a dog with seazers like this please let me know.Thank You Little Willie IP: Logged |

Now I'm no vet but it sounds very familiar. I had a dog as a child that had epileptic seizures. A lot of times her seizures would be brought on by being frigntened. She was an American Eskimo Dog and lived a happy full life to the age of 16. Here is a site that has information on canine seizures: http://www.canine-seizures.freeservers.com/ [This message has been edited by JRsMoM (edited 01-20-2004).] IP: Logged |

It does sound like seizures to me too. My poodle has had a few. You can usually tell that one is coming on when your dog starts acting differently. Mine will go underneigth the bed. Just keep him on the floor when it is about to happen so's he does not fall off a bed or something and injure himself more. Keep the vet informed. If it happens often it would be a good idea to write down when it happens and for how long they last. your vet will want to know. ------------------ IP: Logged |
