I know you are worried right now about Jake...but but but..there is a dog in Red Bluff that is desperate for help. He is a Catahoula mix. His name is Billy. Below is what the shelter wrote about him.

"Notes: Billy is a volunteer favorite!!! He is an AWESOME dog with a great personality and the looks to match. He is only a year to a year and a half old and weighs around 60lbs. But is extremely gentle and sweet. His breed is just a guess. He has a handsome grey colored coat with black spots and the cutest pink lower lip. He is a very good boy and walks skillfully on a leash. He is well mannered, extremely friendly and an all around perfect dog. Billy is in URGENT need of a new home.

This pet is: up to date with routine shots"

He is close to you yes? The people on the Catahoula rescue board agree that he is more Catahoula in looks than anything else. Here is a link to the board and the thread about him and a photo, there is just something about him that is making me want to go get him. http://members5.boardhost.com/catahoularescue/msg/7928.html

I thought you may be interested in fostering or adopting him. I told them I would take him on an emergency basis and find him a home, but I am not involved in a rescue group or foster program, so it's not likely they will pull him for me or be allowed to turn him over to me for that purpose. I am happy with the three I have, I think adding a 4 th dog would take away from the others and I promised myself I wouldn't do that. I'm always open to helping out though. I made a poster for them to help in finding him a home, but he is listed as urgent, meaning he doesn't have much time, so I'm not even sure he made it through the weekend. I'll talk to the lady today probably, they were trying to find a foster home for him at minimum.

I don't know why you couldn't see his picture but here it is, he is a blue leopard, which doesn't show up much in the picture...I love his pink lips, he looks like he is puckering up for a smooch, lol.

He is soo cute. I would love to, but after a lengthy conversation this weekend with my husband he is not willing to get another dog permanent and he is still on the fence about fostering and only an older dog, and with this thing with Jake now. If you were able to take him then I could make arrangements to get him to you. There is a forever pets rescue org here, I could contact them to see if they could take him

I don't know Jimaya...when you go to the link you have to click on the thread to get to the picture...it didn't come out right in that first post so someone posted it lower in the thread. You can also go to Petfinder and type in: Catahoula, CA, and check the box for pictures, it will take you to the page with him listed and there are three pictures of him there. IT IS KILLING ME...the shelter is not open today because of the holiday, the rescue doesn't have room for him and he is URGENT at the shelter.

I don't think they will let me foster him unless I am associated with a program, which I am not and don't want to be. That would open the door for me to take in everything and I have no self control. Sometimes they won't let one group pull for another even so...I don't know. I offered what I could do and the rest I can't do anything about. I made up a poster for them to distibute on the internet and off, and I've been posting everywhere about him for them. I contacted the lady who fostered Witt since she is in that area and asked her to do it, but she is selling her house and is taking a break while doing that. The volunteers describe him as the perfect dog, I can't believe he hasn't been adopted yet. He is very striking, I saw the body shot pictures and he is gorgeous!

If you don't think they would let you foster and place him without a rescue, you might be able to adopt him, then place him yourself. I don't know if you're looking to take on that type of responsibility, but it is an option in some cases.

I have actually done that Goob, but the problem is I would then have to drive down there to get him, that expense alone would keep me from doing it, and on top of that the adoption fee is higher because he needs to be neutered before leaving the facility. If rescue pulled him, there would be no fee and he would be able to be transported to me.
Like I said before I am not set up to do fostering on a permanent basis. But it is driving me batty...I actually dreamed about him last night.

What a beautiful dog he is! I wish I could have another large breed, but we are now renting until retirement, and the landlord wouldn't allow it. She would freak if she knew about the puppies....Darn! I want that dog....Oh well! hope he gets adopted out soon to a nice family. Susan
