I am freaking out - I was giving Jake his morning tummy massage when I found a lump almost in the middle of his chest, it is about the size of a quarter. I am thinking how did I miss this in the past. Because of his age, almost 7 and being a pure lab, I started abut 6 months ago regularly giving him a good once over for lumps and bumps when I give his rub down. I am going to get him an Appt on Monday since my husband is off and they will probably want to do Xrays. I am going to be a basket case until then Honeybear IP: Logged |

You have to think positive! It really could be a cyst and not the worst case scenario. I will be thinking of you and praying for Jake. You know we are all here for ya IP: Logged |

Awww honeybear, it could be something like a fatty tumor or he bumped it or something. It doesn't automatically mean it's bad. I know as they get older your mind goes to the ugly C word right away, but just hang in there til the vet looks at it. IP: Logged |

Honeybear, Fatty lumps are very very common and to be expected as dogs age. I felt just like you when I discovered the first one on my old Jake. The Vet will do a simple needle tissue test to confirm it's just fatty tissue. They extract a bit of tissue and look at it under a scope. X-rays should not be required. Let's us know how the exam turns out. [This message has been edited by dukesdad (edited 01-16-2004).] IP: Logged |

My old aussie had a fatty tumor right in the middle of her chest, about the size of a quarter. It never got any bigger. IP: Logged |

Thanks for all of your thoughts, it makes me feel better and it is probably nothing, just a benign tumor, I will keep you posted Dukesdad I saw your website when you first posted, great info on the bloat issue Honeybear IP: Logged |
