I have a co-worker who has some Jack Russell puppies for sale. I asked him what color they were and he said black. Black??? Half breeds evidently? What do you all think? IP: Logged |

"White should predominate (i.e., must be more than 51% white) with tan, black, or brown markings. Brindle markings are unacceptable. " So JRT's are supposed to be more than 51% white. Its possible that those could be purebred JRTs but the people breeding them have not been breeding "responsibly" if they are not adhering to the breed standard. For example...there are parti colored poodles which are not common and not accepted by the AKC. The people breeding these different colored dogs are simply breeding for money or trying to change the breed. It is really up to you whether you support that or not. I personally think that no breed should be required to be certain colors only UNLESS certain colors are detrimental to their health (albino for example). Otherwise I think all colors should be allowed and I think its ridiculous for people to get upset that certain colors are bred simply because the AKC says they arent accepted. But I'm a nonconformist by nature. Anyways...if you want a pet puppy....one of these dogs could be the dog for you. Sure it might be a mix a few generations back...does that really matter to you? A pet is a pet no matter what it looks like. It sounds like it could be a cute dog IMO. IP: Logged |

We just don't want it to grow up and be large, like if it was bred with a lab, for example(if that's even possible). We've got a big dog already, and we want our next dog to be small. We would be dissapointed if it became huge because it was a mix,( but we would still love it and never give it away.) Sorry if that was confusing, i'm kind of tired right now. Haha.
