Hi, I moved in with my boyfriend just over 3 months ago. He has a six year old greyohund and he used to sleep on the bed. Since i moved in there is not enough room on the bed for all three of us at night and so for the past couple of months the dog now sleeps downstairs. (I know i moved in on his territory and feel bad about that!). Since then on some occasions the dog will leave a preasant on the indoor front door mat. This is not every night and we let him out before we go to bed at night and leave the dog downstairs. we don't punish him for this in any way as the deed was done when we wern't present and also this would be giving him attention. The dog now after two months however is still doing this. Is there anything anyone can suggest at all ang IP: Logged |

Perhaps he needs to go out during the night and no one is there to take him out. I think the Door is showing you that thats where he needs to go is outside. Try putting a puppy pad down there at night and get up every so often to make sure he doesn't need to go out. IP: Logged |

I agree with Sam in that the dog probably has to go out in the middle of the night and there isn't anyone to ask to go out. Doing it close to the door says .."hey, I tried to get out there". What size bed do you have? It's not any of my bussiness I know, but we have a full size bed, my husband and I, our 45.5 pound Aussie X, our 9 pound Poodle and our 70 pound Catahoula X all sleep together on it. It is a bit crowded I'll admit, but you only have one greyhound. If nothing else, perhaps giving her a dog bed next to your boyfriends side of the bed on the floor will make her feel a little less shoved aside. We have a nice one on one sode of the bed and when I want more room I send the dogs off the bed to the doggie bed, they are still with us in the room so they don't feel slighted. You could also make sure one of you gets up once during the night to let her out at the same time every night so she knows someone will be coming to let her out. IP: Logged |
