I was telling my neihbor the great info I received yesterday, and she asks me to ask a question for her. She has approx. 2 year old mix of snouser and something else. Little dog - about 12 lbs. They have had since 6 wks, and now he will just get up and start panting in a full circle. Twice last week, he got in trouble and when they went to pick him up off the couch - he bit them, and drew blood. He never used to do this. When I say runs in circles, it's a small circle in their den and he will just keep doing it and it is really worrying my neighbor, b/c she says it looks like that he has just gotten into something, but he hasn't. She said it looks like that he is really nervous during the circle running. Any suggestions or thought on what it might be? IP: Logged |

Cameron sometimes does circles too when we start punish her- and by punish I mean raising our voices- we have never physically punished. Anyway, after we moved to our new house she decided the nice empty basement would make a great indoor toilet. When we caught her in the act or just after and would start to raise our voice, she would start running in circles over and over and jump up on us- almost like she was either trying to distract us from the fact that she had just been bad, or trying to relieve the stress of knowing that she was bad and would now have to stay in the bathroom for 2 minutes (horrible punishment I know ) Maybe that's what your friend's dog is doing, either trying to distract or trying to destress? Just a thought. IP: Logged |

She could have a skin fungus or something that is bothering her. Changes in behavior like that often are signs of pain. I would have her evalutated by a vet. IP: Logged |

I would definately take the dog to the vet and have her looked at. Sudden changes in behavior are a signal that something is wrong,it could be physical. IP: Logged |
