I have a litter of puppes that are about to be three weeks old. The guy at the pet store told me that I could worm then at three weeks old, but it seems to me like that is too young. Does anybody know when can I worm my pups?

Thats a little too young. I would suggest waiting until at least 4 1/2 - 5 wks.
I get the wormer from the vet. I worm them, wait 10 days, then worm them again. Then its routine once a month until they are 1 - 2yrs old.

My other dogs were never wormed past puppyhood, so this is new to me.

Is "wormer" a pill or a liquid or what?

Hi. I worm my bitch the week before she is due to have her litter, then i worm the puppies and her 2 weeks after they are born then every every 2 weeks until they are 12 weeks old and then its every 3month there after.
A record should be kept on dates the puppies were wormed then this can be given to the new owners alsong with the puppies vaccination card.

Different people have different views on when is best to worm puppies but i have done it this way for aslong as i have bred dogs.

I am wondering about worming too, because I was told by the vet that if they are on once a month "heartguard plus" after their initial wormings as a puppy, that will not only prevent heartworm but other common types of worms, so that the only way they need to be dewormed is if they acquire a relatively rare kind which doesn't happen too often. It did, however, happen with my pup, she got whipworm, so we are now on interceptor heartworm medicine which prevents the whipworm as well.

I start worming with Strongit T at 2 weeks old ,I have a dossage list per lb and continue every 2 weeks until they get their first shot and the vet takes over the and we worm with drontal plus twice before they go to a new home .The drontal we do whether the fecal is pos or neg ,we do this to make sure we have very worm free ad healthy babies .I also use revolution before they go ,this is a type heartworm ,flea med that is topical and can be used at 6 weeks of age ,also gets round worms if there are any ....has a type of ivomec in it .
