I have a 1.5 year old husky/shepard/sheba inu mix who keeps digging in the yard. If it was my property, I wouldn't care much but I rent. Anyone have anti digging suggestions?

I posted on this quite a while ago. My dogs used to dig and dig and dig, and I'm sure they have been to china and back because the holes were that big in the yard. I tried everything, pepper, putting there own doggy poo in the hole and then filling it with sand. I also tried walking her on a morning but it was just plane boredom that made her dig. It has since worn off her and she doesn't dig now. Good Luck

We put rocks in the holes and then cover them back up. I've also bought a BIG canister of cracked, not regular ground, pepper and generously sprinkled it in the holes.....

Also try getting some entertainment for your dogs...they have a toy that the dogs push around and it sprinkles treats as it goes. My dogs play with it for hours. its a really good babysitter!

Filling the holes up and putting their feces on top is supposed to help.

Giving them something else to do so they aren't bored might help, too.

Some people give the dog a place to dig and teach him to ONLY dig in that area.

Nala *could* turn into a digger, but she is never unsupervised in the yard so we just tell her to stop when she starts to dig. I haven't seen her do it much lately.

Thanks, I will try some of the suggestions..
He has a few toys outside, and he usually isn't out there for long. I covered his first hole with chicken wire and buried the edges. That stopped him from digging in that spot, but he chose another spot. I think I will try the pepper first, or since it is winter maybe I can fill the hole with ice and he can waste his energy trying to dig through that
I'd still appreciate any more suggestions anyone has, so I have an arsenal of things to try!

My husky digs everything up, even if she has toys and stuff to do. Some breeds are worse than others. She mostly dogs the holes and lays in them b/c the ground is cooler. Good luck getting your dog to stop!

I have two Huskies. My backyard looks like a golf course. If you find a miracle cure, please let me know!! I have just resolved to block off areas of the yard to get the grass to grow and buy some grass turf to put down when we move ( I live in military housing so the grass has to look decent when I leave here). Good luck!

Heehee. Ya I knew that Huskies have a chanc to be diggers, and that if you tire them out they wont dig... Just TRY to tire out a husky when you aren't a professional racer!!!
I might try my ice idea first. That way he can work for hours digging without getting anywhere. In the spring I'll move him to a different spot, fill in that hole and let grass grow again and try pepper in any new holes (when they are still small).
