Hello, I have a young dog who likes climbing stairs. The problem is that we don't want him to climb the stairs incase he injures himself. We cannot find any solution to stopping him without resorting to a stairgate which we would rather not have. Please reply with any advice. thanks. IP: Logged |

Constant supervision while teaching him to not go up the stairs, tethering him to you on a leash so he can't go up the stairs, or a gate seem to be the only solutions to me.

My beloved BT ,who passed last June, would jump right over the gate we purchased. Depending on what kind of gate your thinking of purchasing they can get pretty pricy. Our oldest rott we purchased from a police officer. He was trained to stay in the kitchen at all times (except at night he was allowed to sleep by the front door) He kennel trained him. I don't know how old your dog is but if he's a pup i do find kennel training most effective. IP: Logged |
