I know this doesn't sound important but here goes anyway. We just brought home our 7 wk old yellow lab...cutest thing I've ever seen. Anyway will the basic look and color remain the same or will it go thru a major change in looks and color? Thanks.

Congrats! How exciting - and tiring.

Some dogs do go through a huge coat change - look at Maisey's Dooley for an example. But I would think a yellow lab would pretty much stay yellow lab-looking. Perhaps a slight change in shade would be possible. And he will get less fuzzy, of course!

As far as look goes, it's like a human child. Puppies have bigger heads and shorter legs and some have big round tummies. Puppies have to grow into their feet. His proportions will change as he grows.

My sister told me she thought she had read that adults shed more than puppies. Is this true? Do puppies shed usually? Nala really doesn't shed much at all, although you can see it around her crate.

As far as Yellow labs goes, theres a chance he'll either get darker more of a golden color, or he'll lighten up to be more whitish...

We have a yellow lab and he is pretty much the same color when he was a pup except for darker markings around the ear, he is the medium yellow color. The one thing happened, I dont if this is the case for all yellow labs, he had a black nose up unitl about a year and then it slowly started turning a light reddishcolor

My yellow lab was almost all white when I got her at 8 weeks but as she gets older, she is getting a bit darker. Mostly down her back and her ears. Her legs and tail are still really white. Her dad is very white and her mom is the typical yellow lab colour so who knows.
