Dogs will naturally pull against a collar. A harness will lessen this. I bought this step in harnesses off of e-bay a few weeks ago and love them. I have big dogs and with just a collar on they pulled big time. I was having to correct them alot. With this harness the probem is gone completely. The dog steps into the harnes and it comes up to the top of the shoulders and you fasten the leash to two rings. It is wonderful.

hi RubyRearView,

I was also given a walking-harness for my dog (Shar Pei) as a new-years present, but it does'nt fit him. I don't have the receipt either. I'm going to see if i can exchange it, since i know where it was bought.

But i know what you mean w/ the pulling. My concern is that they don't have the constant pressure on their esophagus. I also like how the latch (D-ring) for the leash is in the top-center. That's cool. I'm sure that helps keep things organized a little more durring outings...

They have the no pull harnesses that work wonders. they just have an extra strap that goes around their hindquarters and this tightens if the dog tries to pull enabling him to extend his back legs, so he just pulls against himself. As soon as he stops, it releases.

I usued this on Smokey and it cured his walking "problem" in just days. Now he has his very own walking harness.

Charllotte got a new hot pink one for Christmas!!!

hi Puttin510,
You can do a general search by typing in "no pull harnesses". Alotta things should come up.

Here's a link to a few companies... I hav'nt checked them out yet, but there's a few: http://www.1st-for-dogs.com/dog-information-55/no-pull-dog-harnesses.html
