Holy Gaucamole! I have actually talked to this guy on the phone about attending training sessions. I didn't care for some of the answers I got so I never followed up, but this is the first I have heard of any of this. WOW! I'm afraid I would have been thrown in jail on assault charges had he touched my dog...I can't believe people would stay in a class where he acted that way. I would have freaked on him even if it weren't my dog.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the man in question is not the novelist Stephen King...and is completely unrelated to him.

I am appalled! I cant believe anyone would let someone do "helicoptering" to their dog, I cant believe that technique is not called animal abuse. At least he is now being brought up on charges in a country that has much harsher animal rights laws than we do. I hope he gets his due justice.

It says right in the article that it's not the novelist ...Our county does have much stricter laws than alot, but I have to say that the "little cases" tend to get overlooked at times. Animal abuse is definately more severly punished here though than in other places.

You know what was also scary? In that article there was a Bischon Frise owner who was praising the guy who started training her dog at 3 mos and saying she would have an "out of control" dog if it wasn't for him. She said it was "rough to watch at first" but she "survived it all". She sometimes now has to use a choke chain when her dog "doesn't mind" but now she has a dog she can trust. A little Bischon? An out of control dog that young? Using a choke chain when he doesn't mind? This woman is as scary as that trainer! Some people condone abuse as training! It sickens me.

I followed up on some articles on this, and found some updates, the latest being in October of 2002. He disappeared from our area and surfaced in London where he was charged with the same types of crimes. They had photos of him helicoptering a dog until the choke chain broke and the dogs eyes were literally popping out of it's head. It made me sick to view them. In the end it looks like he was sentenced with not being able to train or own a dog for 1.8 years and had to do community service and pay a fine. I think he should never be allowed to train or own a dog and jail time was in order. Even the people who had good experiences with him should have payed attention to the people who were making claims, there seemed to be evidence in several instances, I would have been very wary. It's weird I don't remember hearing anything about this case. I also found him listed on an abusers list. I feel sorry for the man and the people who have bought his "style" of training, it's very sad he hasn't learned in all his years how much a dog will do willingly and happily for love.

It's amazing to me that it took this long to get this guy's training license taken away- I mean, it's like allowing a convicted child abuser to be a teacher! It just seems like when it comes to animals, there is not enough awareness and cooperation among authorities to stop this sort of thing from happening. I know I know, as many would say, "they're just dogs, not children," but to me my dog is my child, and it infuriates me that the law allowed this man to continue his practice for as long as he did. Cruelty to animals is too often just overlooked, and it takes so many voices just to get something done, and that's what upsets me.

I can't believe the ignorance of some dog owners sometimes... Some are just c o m p l e t e l y clueless. Mannn, if i saw the so-called professional "dog trainer" do this to my dogs, i'd have that choke collar on him real quick and drag his sorry a** all over the place! PLEASE, some people are just lame-brains! I could just imagine these people standing their watching their poor "pet" get hurt.
It's one thing to spank your own kids, but would you let someone else HIT/SOCK/HURT/ABUSE your child!?! Come-on, wake-up p e o p l e ! ! !

This Stephen Queen girl was just taking advantage of peoples ignorance, and taking his temper out on thier dogs.
Shoot, I DON'T TRUST ANY TRAINER, SERIOUSLY. I would'nt leave my dog w/ any trainer for NOTHING!!!! I would "always" have to be apart of, or just "be there" while he/she was training.
I think a "good/great" trainer, is one who mastered P A T I E N C E .
And believe me, that ain't me, yet .

Some people are so messed up! Just for the record, it's not the famous S.King (who write books) that does this to dogs. This dog abuser guy is just an ignorant S.O.B. Not to mention an #@%!#@*!!!!

I hope i didn't offend any women/girls/ladies here, when i typed this: This Stephen Queen girl was just taking advantage...
I was just trying to get my frustrates out, & make fun of him. I apologize if i did .

You know when i first heard about this guy helicoptering a dog, i thought this was Protection Work type training.
If i'm not mistaken, people that train their dogs for protection/guard dog work use that same term too. But, it's used for when a decoy (person in a dog armor/padded suit) lets the dog jump and bite him on his arm (which again is padded) and then he swings the dog around in a circular motion, hence "helicoptering" the dog off the ground. This tests the dogs will & bite/jaw strength to not let go of it's hold. This sometimes is also done along w/ slightly hitting, or should i say smacking the dog w/ a (mann, i forgot the name of it) special type of stick/bat.
Amazing stuff! This is the "helicoptering" i knew of. Which i don't think there's anything wrong w/ it. Those dogs that can, love to fly....
