I recently switched my two dogs (3 mo. old male St. bernard and 6 yr old female St. Bernard) to a new food, EaglePack. Samantha, the 6 yr old, has had diarrhea ever since. It has been 1 wk now that she has been on it fully. I switched it over a period of 3-4 days. I assume the diarrhea is from the new food because she seems to be doing good otherwise. I just don't know how long it should last and how long is too long?
Keep in mind that I switched her from basically only Pedigree can food (she had dry food but rarely ate it) to mostly EaglePack dry food (i mix in about 1/4 of a cup of Eagle pack can food). I figure this is probably a big shock to her system but I don't know how long it is safe for her to have diarrhea. And when i say diarrhea, i mean it is completely liquid, nothing solid to it at all.

I think it mya be just a shock to the system since they are very different foods. But to continue this way for a week seems like a long time. Maybe you should call the vet and see what they think. maybe mixing some cooked rice in the food.

I agree that maybe you should contact your vet. When Natalie was sick with diahrrea I had to feed her boiled chicken and rice for a while and then slowly reintroduce her dog food with several small meals per day.
A 3-4 days switch may not have been long enough for her to adjust to the new food...esecpially if she has been used to eating the same food for a long period of time.
Keep us posted.
