7 out of 10 times we ride in the car, my puppy gets car sick. I have tried not feeding him for a while before leaving, but he throws-up anyway!
The only time he doesn't throw-up is when he is very tired from playing or running, and passes out.

Any suggestions?

i have the same problem with my female staffordshire bull terrier .
she throws up everytime we travel in the car.
i have been told of some tablets you can give them called travel calm or something like that.
i have never used them so i dont know if they work or not. if you try them let me know if they work.
good luck

A lot of people use over the counter motion sickness pills called "Dramamine" (sp?) Also, before I ran off trying that I would advise trying a homoeopathic remedy such as "Cocculus" or another option which I personally prefer trying over any other is the common herbal remedies such as "Peppermint" or "Valerian" All of these are good sources of ridding travel sickness in dogs. Take your pick.

hi
i dont know if this will help, but my puppy (staff x collie) dax had the same problem everytime we took him out in the car we put him in a pet carrier in the back seat and within a couple of minutes he was sick.
I decided to try a dog harness that you attach to the seatbelt. I strapped him in to the passengers seat with the rug from his bed and a toy, and could not belive it was the same dog! he just goes to sleep, no trouble at all, now he loves the car.
I think it's because he can see me and doesnt feel trapped. might be worth a try!
good luck

My first Lab experienced severe car sickness for about a year then gradually grew out of it. While anti-motion remedies might help, experience and conditioning will eventually prevail. Rescue Remedy is a herbal treatment for stress and anxiety problems. You can read more at: http://www.bachflower.com/rescue_remedy.htm
Good Luck.
