PLEASE HELP ME!! We've been having some troubles with potty training our rat terrier. Anyways, she's got a spot in the dining room where she is constantly going to the bathroom. In fact, there are a few places where she has done this. We're putting in more effort with this whole training thing, and she's getting better, but we've been using Resolve to clean the carpet and it's not getting rid of the smell. We really need to do something about this. Does anyone know of something that would work good to remove this awful smell?? Please advise...Thanks!!

When I was training my pup, we used Febreze, Extra Strength... everywhere! It worked great! Also- in carpets... I know this sounds weird... but I used Dr. Scholl's foot powder. When it's dry... sprinkle some on and rub it in a little bit... and let it sit there. Just make sure that your pup doesn't pee on the powder. It can get messy. So... block that area off.

Good Luck!

Try using a mixture of cloudy ammonia & water. If that doesn't work
you can mix: 2 cups soap flakes, 1/2 cup methylated spirits, and 1 1/2 tbsp. pure eucalyptus oil. Use 2 tablespoons to a bowl of warm water & sponge it on the stain.

Good Luck!

I've read that amonia based products isn't good because that is the smell dogs react to in pee.

I've used vinegar and baking soda to clean up and then fabreeze over it. Also, it might help if you disrupt her favorite pee spots by either moving food or sleep pillows over the area to discourage her from going back, or you could just put something over that spot.

My dog is still potty training but got into the habit of peeing next to my chair. So I moved the fan stand over it and she hasn't picked a new fav. spot yet so at least it gives the carpet pad a break. hehehe

I use Oxy Solution and Petzyme and resolve. LOL. I spray the spot with petzyme before I go over it with the carpetsteam cleaner. and I put a little Oxy solution in the water tank as well as the resolve that you put in the regular solution container. It's constant though, I must say I'm so sick of cleaning my carpets that I've priced some hardwood floors. My yorkie is housetrained but Miette my 7 month old pekeapoo still will sneak in a squat here and their. It's just something that you have to become fanatically about until the dogs are fully trained. I decided maybe to do the hardwood because I've been cleaning my carpets like crazy and I'm just tired of doing it.

I called the place where I got Ellie the other day and they said that was a good thing to try. Thanks for all of the suggestions.
