I use regular Suave on my dogs after they get a flea bath, takes the doggy shampoo smell out and makes them all shiny and smell good!!! I've used Pantien Pro V on my border collie, that stuff is excellent for long haired dogs!! IP: Logged |

I thought you are supposed to use dog shampoo because of the differences between dog fur and skin versus human hair and skin?

i use any kind of shampoo thats for puppies and kittens [its less harsh on dogs skin] and i use 'troy pet gloss' conditioner. it has a great smell to it, has antibacterial properties and makes my dogs coat real soft and shiny. i wouldnt use human shampoo etc on a dog, especially pantene. i wouldnt put that stuff on a rat. I have always heard human shampoo is not good for dogs coats. But I use a oatmeal shampoo for mine, not sure of the name but I got if from the pet store. I use regualar flea/tick shampoo then the oatmeal shampoo. It helps with the wet dog smell. IP: Logged |

I've tried alot of different shampoos and my dogs skin has never had any reaction to any of the humand shampoo. I think that there are alot of pet stores just out to make a buck. Mine never have skin issues with these shampoos. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Cool, I may try that. I was always afraid too, but it seems alot of people here use regular shampoo. Thanks for the advice! Merry Christmas All! [This message has been edited by 3Dogsihave (edited 12-21-2003).] IP: Logged |

I use the Oatmeal shampoo for Shug because I bath her a lot (really only once a week)and she had itchy skin for a while. You can buy the SAME shampoo at Walmart or Fred's for Dogs that you find at Petsmart for about half the price. I know it's a racket.....but I want her to have the best. We have a lot of trouble with MATS, so I have been using my own conditioner on her. I spritz her with it to comb out, but it does take the SHINE out. I'd like for her coat to be SHINY. IP: Logged |
