you should post this on the pit bull forums.. they can help you with the Amstaff.. not sayin these folks can't but the Amstaff and a Pit are basically the same dog

CONGRATS! My mom and dad have one and he is the most sensitive mild mannered and well behaved dog I have ever seen.
My advice to you is to be very caring and affectionate! They seem to love that the most out of anything!

Nice, Am-Staff's are cool!
I've read that they are very affectionate dogs. My cousin had one thinking it was a miniture Pit . I laughed when i heard the "smart" hoodlum say this! That's what all the ignorant people surrounding him (his fellow hoodlums) told him anyway. I could'nt voice my opinion you know (it was'nt worth getting socked/beat up for--LOL!!). He eventually sided with me (well at least i think he did).
Anyhow, take good care of him.
Awesome breed!

I'm not sure about the Staffs, you can get basic obediance books at your pet stores.

Congrats on your new family member! Would love to see photos.

I think an Am staff in the right hands is a wonderful pet. In the wrong hands it is thrown into the pit. Which makes an evil un-predictable dog. They are born innocent and will learn what you teach them. We owned one when I was a teen. He was great. Don't let anyone sway you into thinking your dog has to be a tough acting dog. I don't even like to call them pit bulls anymore. Make sure your dog is brought around all sorts of things, the more socialization the better. Also, of course with other dogs too. They are beautiful dogs with the sweetest looks on their faces. Those big grins.
