With a poms upswept tail it is very difficult to keep his rear end clean after his trips outdoors. Any hints for this spotty problem?

Carefully do a sanitary trim in that area. I do that with my terrier mix and of course my poodle. It is something that is done usually with fluffy dogs. Also if your dog is on a high quality all dry kibble it makes for a firmer bowel movement and easier to keep clean.
