I have an older puppy (6 months) who is for the most part potty trained. The problem is that when she does have accidents she has them on furniture or in her bed in her crate - places she sleeps. She probably has one or two of these a week. Why would she go where she sleeps and what could be the cause of these accidents? What should we do?

take her to the vets and ask them to test for a bladder infection. if its not that then they might have to run more tests. its unusual for dogs to soil where they sleep and usually means something is wrong.

I am afraid that she does it because when she was a little younger she used to stay in crate during the day when I was at work and though I came home at lunch she still had accidents in her crate - did I teach her to go where she sleeps? And what would you recommend to help with it? I dont' think she has a bladder infection because she goes days at a time without accidents....

was she recently spayed? Is she asleep when the accidents occur?
