My wife and I had a maltese peekingnese and he died a month before his first birthday, he had a liver shunt and died a week after a $3500 surgery. We really want another one because he was the best dog in the world and we want another one just like him. If any one knows where I can get a white and gold maltese/peekingnese mix, please let me know, Michael

Are liver problems common in pekegnise? One of the girls I work with refused to let a petstore put a pekie puppy to sleep because it was sick. The vets office recieved custody where she was allowed to adopt him.
He ended up needing a liver shunt as well. He will be 7 months soon, so far everything has gone well.
Just wondering if this was a coincidence or if it is something that is common with pekies.
