My family are thinking about getting a dog for our small apartment. It has to be able to wait at least eight hours alone at home. We want to have it to play with too. What breed would be suitible for my family? IP: Logged |

So many great choices! However, because you said the dog will be alone 8 hours a day I would recommend you get an adult dog, not a puppy. Thats just too much to expect out of a new puppy. Check your local rescues and shelters, talk to the workers about what kind of home you have to offer and see what they recommend. Look at www.petfinder.com and select your area for the search, this is how I got one of my dogs and it was a wonderful experience. IP: Logged |

I agree with Maisey that you should get an adult dog vs. a puppy with your current situation. There are so many great dogs out there in need of loving homes. On petfinder, you can narrow down your search to area, age and dog size, and they post pictures. I check Petfinder weekly just in case "that special" dog catches my eye, even though we probably should just stick with our single dog for now Good luck in your search! IP: Logged |

OK I couldn't stand it! Check out some of these dogs needing homes in Colorado. Remember, sometimes transportation can be arranged.
