Have you ever heard of Linda Tellington-Jones (horse trainer) and the TTouch method? It seems to be a sort of massage for horses, dogs, cats, and any other animal. There are seminars, and you can also become a practitioner.

It is supposed to not only enhance your relationship with your animals, but also it can help the animals with stress, fear, nervousness, and a host of other things. There are testimonials from people who have attended a seminar about successes with dog-aggressive dogs, hyper dogs, etc.

There is a seminar this weekend in Portland - that might have been fun to go to, Maisey! I don't know how much it costs - I am still digging through the website, which is: http://lindatellingtonjones.com/

I have been to a seminar of hers twice and I have one of her books. The seminars were connected with The Northwest Equine Expo and we went with a huge group of horse friends. Because of the big group and everyone wanting to see something different I didn't get to stay for the whole thing either time which is why I bought the book. I have not read the whole book, I just skimmed through much of it, which is odd for me! LOL. A guy I know who does endurance racing with his horses talked to me one night at my horse trainers HUGE annual Labor day Party, about 200 people camp up at his ranch and party for 4 days. We do bon fires, horseshoe tournament, volley ball tournament, trail riding, games etc...lots of fun! Anyways, after a long day of riding and me giving some lessons on my horse, which she is not used to, I was massaging her with a couple little techniques I had read about in the book, it was dark and this guy approached and started talking to me, while talking he showed me some more techniques and sort of took over the massage, Fancy nearly melted into the ground, she was in heaven. When we started to leave she sort of snapped to and came running for HIM...not me, HIM. She absolutely loved it. I use what he showed me on her all the time while loving on her in her stall or after looking in on her out in pasture. She holds real still and kind of leans on you. When she is in an upsetting situation, I can reach up and massage little tiny circles around the base of her ears and down under her jaw line and she will visibly relax.
Rene just showed me a TTouch technique yesterday with Witt to teach him not to pull on the leash, I can't exlain it very well, you have to see it, but he did respond, it's a bit akward...but maybe the more I do it the better at it you become.
I have her site bookmarked as well and refer to it occasionally.

I have heard of it, but have not checked it out. When I first got my poo Sasha she could not relax at all if anyone tried to massage her in any way she would snap at us. Just putting her head in the palms of my hand to massage her little head she could not allow herself to trust me. I kept at it though. She melts in my hands now. I do that type of circular motions all around her body. She is such a different dog now.
