Hi All,
You remember Casey? just had puppies about three weeks ago on the 15th. When is it a good time to get her fixed? Should I do it, when the puppies go to thier new homes, at 8 weeks old? Momma and pups are doing great! Thanks for the help! Sincerely, Susan

Oh! another question,,, I have a good home for one puppy, but not the rest yet.(thinking of keeping one) Anyway, what's the best way to screen for potential owner's? And how do I word that: they "must" be inside pets???? I know I won't have any problems finding them homes, because they are very cute and small, but I want them to have the best possible....Thanks again! Susan

Hi susan so glad they are all doing so well,
you can have casey spayed when puppies are 4 to 6 weeks old without there being any problems as they will be eating solids and only going to mum when they want to sleep.

Screening new owners what i do is ask about there working hours, how long the puppy is going to be alone. how big is there yard for the dog to have a run around in,
how often can the dog be taken for walks.
Will there be someone at home with the dog or if they work do they have someone that can go in and let the puppy out and play with it for a little while things like that.

If the new owners are abit funny on asking then i wuldnt accept them as owners.

You can also ask if it would be ok to have there telephone number and address so that you could go visit to see how they doing exllent caring new owners will not see a problem with this unless they hiding something.

i usually just turn up on there doorstep that way they cant hide anything from me like the dog being locked outside or things like that...

Keep us posted of there progress..

Also, make sure they know and agree that if they ever can't keep the dog for some reason, they will return it to you and NOT a shelter (or just abandon it).

You can make a contract out. Have everything stated on it on what you require for them to keep the dog. You can put down what you feel comfortable with and have them sign it. I thought of this because I had to sign a couple of contracts when I bought my dogs from a breeder. In it, I was required to have my dogs spayed and neutered by six mos. It also stated that I was to return the dogs if for any reason I could no longer care for the dogs. I am not sure exactly what you can put in it so you have to check with a lawyer but it just sounds like a good idea. Also, my breeder handed me printouts on puppy care like potty training, all about Huskies(my dogs), crate training, etc. I thought that was a big help. When interviewing people, I would trust my gut instincts. If you feel uncomfortable, it is probably for a good reason so go with it and look for another family you feel good about. You seem like a good and responsible person. I just know that everything will go alright for you. Best of luck, Susan!!

Hi Karriesue, Thanks for the info! That's a great idea! You realy helped me out! Susan

P.S. I'm not selling, I'm giving them away, but none of that should matter anyway. I could sell them, they are going to beautiful! but i don't want money, just good homes....

Some people charge money for puppies going on the theory that if a person is willing to pay for something, they will value it more and take better care of it. I don't know if that is true or not, but I thought I would throw it out there.

Humn that's something I had not thought of. What would you charge for a DauchyPom? I have no idea....I paid $200.00 for Casey, because she had no papers. But she is purebred. The Pomeranian is also a pure breed. What about $50.00 they are very small and cute....

I know some towns wont even let you give away dogs ( i mean advertise in the newpaper) and I think it is the law some because people will take them and sell them to medical places. $you need to gauge your costs. Because you will have given them their first shots right? YOu should be able to re-coup some of this.

I wouldn't know what to charge either. $50 does sound like a good number though.
PS - You're welcome. I am glad I was able to be of some help to you.

Oh yes! I will give them thier first set of shots, i won't take any chances that that won't be done. I can't wait until my Daughter gets here to help me figure out this camera, so I can post some pics. You'll fall in love! They are way too cute! I'm having such fun with them, they are now walking and falling over. And one of them (I call Bear, he was the first born, that I helped out) barks already! I had no idea, a puppy could bark at this age, he's the only one that does it. I can sit for an hour, just watching them....Susan

Hi Susan sounds like they are doing really well.

the little fella that has started barking is a good sign that everything is going well another week or so and you will have them running after your feet and getting into all kinds of trouble hehehehe.

I am the same when my dogs have there puppies i can sit for hours just watching them play its great..

The feeling you get when you actually help deliver them is great also.

Good luck with doing a great job and bet casey is a proud mummy.
Cant wait to see the pics..

P.s You can start to feed the puppies soft puppy food from 4weeks old if you would like advice on this please feel free to email me and i will help you out..

again good luck and have fun with your new babies..

Also ask for the number of their vet. You can find out thru them if they take proper care in getting shots and care when a dog is sick.

Pictures, we want pictures.

Hi Everyone,
Thank you all soooooooo much! I have been givin the best advise from all of you. What do they look like? Well! Kinda like both of them, there are two that are a sort of a blond color with shorter hair, and a dark stripe down thier backs. Then three of them have multi colored hair, dark brown, red and golden, they have longer hair. I will be taking pics of them tomorrow, with my digital camera, then when my daughter comes in about 12 days, she will post them for me. (unless I figure this thing out by myself first)

I didn't know that a vet could give out info, on someone elses pets.

Hey Mike, I'll email you to talk about the feeding of the pups...Thanks...

I can't wait until you all get to see them, TALK ABOUT CUTE!!!! Sincerely, Susan
