Hi. My Beagle pup is 10 weeks old and he, for lack of a better word, farts all the time. And it is the worst smelling. He even does it while sleeping in my lap. I was giving him Iaams puppy food until someone dropped off a congratulatory (on us getting a new puppy)bag of Puriana puppy food, healthy version with vegetables in it. Now he only wants that food and not the Iaams. However, he farted on the other dog food too. WIll he grow out of this, or is there a more nose friendly puppy food out there that I havent tried? LOL Hope no one is reading this while eating, but his farts are really bad. Help! ann

Don't worry it's completely normal!! They do grow out of it eventually.

ahahahaha! If it makes you feel any better, my Rosie farted last night but I didn't only smell it... I heard it! I can't believe a little puppy only 5 lbs could have a loud fart. I think it scared her too because she kept looking behind her after that.

Mixing a tablespoon of yogurt with their food will help get rid of gas. I also noticed when I stopped feeding my dogs foods with grains, especially corn, in them....the gas stopped.

You can check out the "Food for Thought" thread on this forum for food ideas. I switched my puppy to Innova puppy (a premium food) and she was very gassy. So we switched again to Healthwise (made by the same company, but made to be more easily digested) and she is MUCH better!
