Maybe I need a support group.

People have told me I would make a good vet, but it's not true. I don't have a natural rapport with animals or children like my sister does. All animals and all kids automatically love her. I love the animals but they know I am a bumbling idiot and have no idea how to handle them, despite all my research. I can tell others what to do, but I can't do it myself. I know we all are different and we have to use what was given to us, but why would I be given a love of animals and no rapport with them? That's just stupid.

Maybe that's why I like cats and small lapdogs. They sit in your lap and purr (or pant) and tell you by their relaxed little bodies and happy little faces that you are the best person in the whole world, just by sitting there.

I think there is something wrong with me. I empathise with everyone and yet rarely am I successful in trying to "help." For gosh's sakes, I am medicating a mouse twice daily because....well because she is sick and that's what you do. My husband thinks I am nuts. It is not prohibitively expensive and the alternatives are to let her suffer or put her to sleep, and even though it is just a mouse I can't bring myself to put an animal down just because I don't feel like giving it medicine.

I am definitely going crazy. Tell Santa I want one of those little white jackets with the sleeves tied together.

Jamiya- How can you say you haven't offered much advise? Your responses to my posts have been extremely helpful, and I can see all of the other posts that you've responded to, and you've given them wonderful advise as well. I admire how much patience you are having with your ordeal with Nala- and I can guarantee you I would be doing the same thing with a sick mouse- my husband tells me sometimes he thinks I love animals more than people! There is nothing wrong with having compassion and dedication in any way shape or form- don't get down on yourself because you don't deserve it!

Well, i am certainly one of those people that some would say that i love my "pets" too much.
If i was in a dog-park, w/ all the beautiful dogs that come in, BUT, w/out their owners being there... Ohhh boyee!?! Meaning, if i was the only "human" in there w/ all of the pups, & dogs, i would definalty "go native" as they say. I hope i'm using that term right...LOL!?
Doggies are the best thing in my life on a daily basis!!! I LOVE EM'. Can't get enough!
If a i could afford it (you know, living in a fantasy), i'd be living w/ like 20 different breeds of dogs... Yup, v e r y possibly even more.
DOGS RULE THE WORLD....

Jamyia, you are great. You need a white jacket for the nurse in you. Nala is going to get where you need her to be. She just needs a little extra care now, somewhat like a child with a learning disability.
