YaY!!! YaY!! Yay!!! I woke up to SNOW SNOW SNOW...I know some of you get it all the time and it's no big deal...but to me it's GLORIOUS! Wonerful and magical! Witt got snow for his first birthday! I just went out and took a whole roll of film of him checking it out. I feel bad cause Dooley can't go play in it, but hopefully there will be more and he will get a chance. I feel like a little kid waking up Christmas morning!

WOW, Portland rarely gets snow- isnt it fun when they get to play in it and see what it is for the first time.

That storm is headed toward us, that would be fun if we got snow too which is rarely

Snow in Portland?! We lived an hour away from Portland for 9 years and it snowed once that entire time. Do you guys even own coats?

LMAO Jimaya! Of course we own coats, it does get cold and wet and windy here ya know. Mt. Hood is a short drive away too. In fact we could drive to snow quite easily, we just don't get it on the valley floor often. I hate to say this but people around here are idiots when it comes to driving in it, they either freak out and cause an accident or they think they know what they are doing and speed along like any other day and cause an accident. I usually stay home on days like this just to avoid them. I absolutely love this!

Maisey that is excellent. I would love to see what my dogs would do if they woke up to snow. It doesn't get cold enough here to snow we mostly see drought here is Australia.

Maisey...I love the snow too, and when we moved to Evergreen, Colorado last winter we were welcomed by 78" of the glorious stuff in March. It took us two weeks to dig out. That was my Husky Keeston's last winter and boy did she get one heck of a winter welcome to good ole Colorado.
Be careful what you wish for- but enjoy it while it lasts, too.

LOL Justme, My husband is from Minnesota, he grew up in Zimmerman. The snow here is quite different though, it's very wet and often either melts off fast or turns to ice, usually melts then turns to ice causing havoc.

Hey Maisey, sounds like you are really enjoying yourself....if I want snow, I have to go to the Mountains...I live at the coast, and it NEVER snows here....I do miss the four seasons sometimes...My greatest joy is, a big thunder storm, that's what I love...I would love to see how my two, would react to snow. "ENJOY" Susan

Maisey, I know what you mean about the people driving there. My parents are from New York and the few times it did snow when we lived in Washington, my mother refused to drive in it. She was very confident in HER ability, but the rest of the people scared her.

At least they have an excuse, though. In Kansas, it doesn't snow an awful lot, but there are usually several decent-sized snowfalls a year. The people here (who barely know how to drive to begin with) panic at the sight of a raindrop, let alone a snowflake. On regular, sunny days, they drive at about 10 mph below the speed limit, just for fun. (beats head on steering wheel) I think it has something to do with being raised on a tractor, but I'm not entirely sure.

But when it snows, they try to go careening around corners or accelerate quickly. They are all skidding and spinning their tires, and I drive by in my little Nissan Sentra with bald tires, not having a bit of trouble. Scary.

The SUV's are the worst. They all think "4-wheel drive" means "invincible." They go barrelling along and get right up your tailpipe. I'm not sure how they think 4-wheel drive is going to help their 3-ton vehicle to stop, but they seem to think it's not a problem.

They cancel school here for the dumbest reasons in the winter. Half the time I take my kids to school and then realize it was cancelled. The school officials stare at me and ask why I didn't check the weather and I say, "Because the weather isn't bad." Now I check for closings every time the sky is gray.

Then there's the time I took the kids to preschool and everyone was marveling about how I drove there. I shrugged and said it was no problem. So they said I must be from the north. I learned to drive in Cincinnati, which has weather about the same as KC. Sheesh.

/rant off

We live in the land of snow! We live near one of the great lakes and we always get lots of snow. We had the first significant snow fall last week and Max had a blast chasing snowballs, eating the snow and generally just sliding around in it. I wish I could send yall some snow =)
