Just wanted to make sure anyone who cares for a large breed dog is familiar with the symptoms of bloat, a fatal condition if not treated at once. You can read about my experience with Jake, a Lab, who survived the condition when he was ten at http://www.flash.net/~jdebess/ IP: Logged |

I have read about this, you are so lucky Jake survived the ordeal, I have heard it is almost always fatal. I also have a lab named Jake. Someone recently told me that if you use the commercial type dry food, that so much of the base is filler and it expands a great deal when wet and they are finding this can cause this stomach disorder. So my one picky eater Wylie who eats Purina pro-plan (against my wishes) but that is another story, I did notice that when she wont eat and I pick up her bowl after awhile it had doubled in size, so I put very little water in it now Honeybear Thanks for the information, IP: Logged |
