my 11 year old dog had surgery 2 weeks ago on his right hind leg for a torn ligament. he had had surgery 2 years ago on his left leg. ever since surgery he cant use his left leg. it seems to me to be like it is paralyzed. the vet put him on steriods yesterday but is there anyone that can give me any suggestions on how to get it to start working again or any exercises i can do on him? he is not able to get up . the only way he can walk is with me using a sling on him IP: Logged |

Did your vet recommend physical therapy of any kind? Was it a cruciate ligament? What did he have to say about the left leg not being used? I would think he would have recommended some options for you...I'll post a couple links to sites for clinics in my area just so you can see some of what might be available for your dog. If you could be more specific in what kind of injury and repair was done, the size of your dog etc..I'd be happy to look up more options for you. http://www.backontrackvetrehab.com/ http://www.caninepeakperformance.com/ and you might be able to find some useful ideas and information here...it's a list of links for holistic care options including hydrotherapy. Also try doing a search on "Hydrotherapy for dogs". http://www.holisticopia.com/resources/hydrotherapy_resources.htm IP: Logged |
