I woke up this morning and went and met my dogs like an other normal morning, but Jasper my female Lab cross was limping. He paw was very swollen and I was very worried. I took her to the vet and x-rays were done and there were no broken bones much to my delight because she wasn't walking on it.

Could she have been playing with my other dog and just had little tumble??? The vet said that there was no bite marks or anything so my other dog did not bite her.

If she hasn't settled down by monday, I have to take her back again.

I wonder, could she have been stung by a bee or something on her foot? I know that on humans, overnight it can swell up! When I was younger one of my sisters got stung by a bee on her hand, and in teh morning, it was all puffed up, and looked like someone had inflated it. Just an idea.

Actually, this happened a few months ago with my dog as well. He just woke up and started to limp a bit on one foreleg, though he didn't seem to be in any pain. We took him to the vet, but the vet said that it was so minor that it shouldn't be anything to worry about. (He was excited at the vet's and put a lot more weight on it than he did at home!) Anyway, he was completely fine by late evening.

Did the vet give you any type of anti-inflammatory? That might make him feel better. If not, maybe you could call and see if it is okay to give him advil and if so, how much.

My puppy hurt her ankle about a month ago. She landed it on it wrong and wouldn't put any weight on it. A sedative and $300 worth of x-rays later it was pronounced a sprain and she was given anti-inflammatory/pain medication. I gave her one dose that night and she was totally fine the next day.

Grrrr my hubby confesed to me last night that he took her to the river which i don't mind at all cause its been so hot. Anyway she was running down the hill and had a little bit of a tumble so I take it this is how she did it......Men I tell ya, don't tell you nothing until you discover it yourself...LOL.

She is on metacam which will help the swelling go down, but she seems a whole lot better today....She was running around this morning with not troubles at all, then once she was inside and realised how cool it was she decided to limp and not walk on it all so she could stay inside in the cool.....And who says dogs are dumb.....LOL
