Congrats on your new puppy!
Just out of curiousity, how old is the puppy and what breed?
I assume he "bites" while he is playing? Most young puppies seem to be biters but this considerably decreases once their done teething. Young puppies also sleep alot. So yes, this sounds like normal puppy behavior to me.

puppies are great aren't they?

My female pitbull/boxer cross is twelve months old and she is still chewing things to pieces! She is still very much a puppy!

I can't give any advice as my dog still bites playfully, sorry.

Goodluck with your new pup.

My new puppy, Sullivan, when he was 6 weeks old (lab/pit) slept all day and when he was awake he chewed and nipped at our toes incesantly !! He's 10 weeks old now and has calmed down considerably. As long as he has his piggy ears to chew on he stays on his bed and is content. I think this chew/sleep behavior is normal for very young puppies. however it's hard to say with your dog. How old is he/she ?

Hi I meant to say that my puppy *nips* when he is playing, and he does sleep alot, but he is a lot of fun and very loving. He is a labrador retreiver, and is all black. He is 8 weeks old today, and my mom and I took him to the vet yesterday and they say he is perfect. Thank you for replying to my post. I like this board a lot.

Labs are big, goofy, energetic dogs. You are in for a lot of upheaval and fun in your lives!

Do a search for puppies on this forum and you will find a lot of info about puppy biting and such. I know there was a thread called "puppy attacks" that I started on the subject.
