I have a area in my back yard that is currently grass. A fairly large portion of it has been worn down or ripped up to dirt by my 2 active and playful labs. Does anyone have any suggestions on another type of groundcover that would hold up better to this wear and tear?

Yep! Jamiya is right. I can identify with you, Pauly. I have two very active Siberians that have worn down areas of my yard. My Husky book suggests planting perinnial rye grass - that is the stuff they use for football fields. The book says that it is sturdier and stands up to more wear and tear. Also you can fertilize your lawn in the evenings and then hose it down lightly to remove residual fetilizer before letting the dogs out in the mornings. My Husky book also says you can just mulch the whole yard and forget about the grass!!! Anyways, I symphathize!! I hope you have better luck than I do!!!! Have fun!!

I know some people who try green monkey grass, i don't know if it works, but it sure is hardy and spreads like wildfire!
