Please help and sign this petition. There is a possibility of Kansas City voting for banning of certain breeds. My best friend lives there with a rottweiler. Please help. Breed Specific Legislation is not the answer. Please sign and crosspost

no as of now we dont know what breeds they are gonna try to ban but we are trying to stay one step ahead of them. As BSL does not work and only punishes the responsible owners out there. Guys please sign and crosspost to any other site you think my be able to help and feel free to email the petition to people that you know that would sign it.
Thanks guys we really need your help on this one

I signed. Even if one of these bans does get passed...I feel that the irresponsible people that cause the problems will most likely not abide by it anyway or will just find another breed to be irresponsible with.

I signed it when you originally posted.

I live in KC, but I live under a rock so I would have never known they were trying to pass this.

Pit Bull Takes Chunk Out Of Woman's Leg
Bite Victim Says She'll Fight To Get Dogs Banned In KC

POSTED: 9:53 p.m. CDT October 24, 2003
UPDATED: 10:25 p.m. CDT October 24, 2003

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A woman attacked and severely bitten by a dog Tuesday in what surgeons are calling one of the worst dog bites they've ever seen, KMBC's Jeremy Hubbard reported.

Pit Bull Takes Chunk Out Of Woman's Leg

The mauling happened at 49th Street and Brookside Boulevard. Diana Van Heek was walking in the south Plaza neighborhood when a woman approached with a pit bull.

The dog -- named "Misery" -- was with its owner and leashed when it apprached Van Heek. She says she was scared of the dog and told the owner to keep her distance, but the owner told her not to worry.

"And as soon as those words were spoken the dog had gotten away from her and was on me," Van Heek said.

The dog bit Van Heek's leg and literally took a chunk out of it. She has undergone surgery and will need skin grafts and weeks to recover, Hubbard reported.

"This is radically changing my life, and it's unnecessary," she said.

Van Heek said she can't understand why Kansas City -- like some other area towns -- hasn't banned the dog breed.

"They're dangerous animals. They're not dogs; they're beasts. That's how I feel," she said.

Van Heek said as soon as she is out of the hospital, she will start fighting to get pit bulls banned in the city.
