Dog owners....
I am new to this list but my questions is rather pressing. I have a two year old St. Bernard that is generally in great health. However, over the past few months, and in particular over the past few weeks I have noticed that she has been licking/cleaning her genitals very frequently. By this I mean we will be watching TV and she is licking for 10 minutes straight. In addition, over the past 3 days she has urinated in bed, once in her sleep, the other I think she was awake. Her attitude ias unchanged, her energy still appropriate, her eating still normal. Does anyone have any ideas what might be goin on???? Thanks for some insight...

Perhaps a urinary tract infection? A trip to the vet couldn't hurt. Or bring in a little sample of pee and it shouldn't cost as much for them to just run it and see if anything shows up.

I think so too, and they can be miserable for them. I would also take her in to the vet. Welcome to the board dbutman =)

actually, if she's fixed, that could be the big issue.

My dog casie does the same. When I took her to the vet they said that she does so because she needs hormone replacement pills.

From what I remember him saying, they're lack of estrogen causes some changes with the bladder and makes it somewhat weaker. When they are given the replacement pills it will strengthen the bladder.

Maybe that's what you need to do. If she were to have a UTI, you'd probably see blood, and she'd be straining to urinate as well as wimpering.

hope that helps.
