Hi All:

I'm hoping some other single working moms can help me out....I have a 6 month old Yorkie who is usually the sweetest cutest little thing you ever saw...

Were just having one problem...He is litter box trained and quite good at using his box when I'm home...However in the moring, when he sees me getting ready for work, all hell breaks loose....

I have a doggie gate that I put up...He has about 7 by 5 feet of room to play in...However by the time I get home...He's pooped at least twice in front of his gate and smeared it all over the dressing and bath room...which of course requires a bucket and mop deodorizer, all the works...This morning after I put him in his room...I actually heard him in his box, but he jumped out...I had a feeling he was going to go in front of the gate and sure enough that was what he was doing....

My question is, we'll he ever grow out of this...He also barks and cries as though someone is trying to kill him when I walk out the door....This morning out of desparation I gave him a 1/4 teaspoon of Benedryl in the hope that it would help hime calm down a bit....

Any suggestions, greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I would look up some information on separation anxiety in dogs.

Here are some links to get you started: http://www.gurney.co.uk/pads/3SEPANX.HTM http://www.hsus.org/ace/15891

You might also try searching this forum for posts about separation anxiety.

Oh my!!! My yorkie does the same thing when I shut him out of my bedroom. Three times when I have locked him out of my room he has pooped right in front of the door and then smeared it into the carpet and the down stairs living room. He has not done it lately but I have not locked him out of my room either. I know he's doing it on purpose. He is house trained and knows to go outside.
