Okay my 9 month old poodle is potty trained. BUT...she makes accidents and they are always at the same time. Okay when I get in the shower in the morning she will have an accident. If I shut her out of the room for a few minutes she will have another accident. I think she is trying to tell me she doesnt like me to do those things. But the weird thing is sometimes she will be right by the doggie door looking outside and she will go right there. I am getting so upset because I know that she knows what she is doing wrong. Because when the first second she sees me she puts her head down and looks all scared. And she will not go outside to go potty when its raining, and with winter coming up this isnt a good thing. This is our first winter together so I dont know what else to expect. Any suggestions please!

Sounds like separation anxiety might be an issue, since she does it when she has to be away from you. Can you take her into the bathroom with you when you shower? Or does she have a crate that she does not soil that she can be in?

Those are temporary solutions, though. You should do some reading on separation anxiety in dogs and what to do about it. Hopefully someone else with firsthand experience will post some more info.

About the rain - put her on a leash and go out with her. My dog doesn't like the rain either, but we have never given her a choice about it. Hopefully she will learn to just do her business fast so she can get back in. Or get a big umbrella and hold it over both of you - I did this the weekend we got our puppy and it was pouring down rain all weekend. I didn't want her to get off to a bad start on the potty training.

I think I figured out a way to help her in the morning when I'm in the shower. It seems that if I open the blinds in the morning she will go do business outside. So I did that before I got in the shower and when I got out she did her business outside. I was so proud of her!! I dont understand what it is about the blinds but she likes them open instead of running into them. Kinda funny I think.

Aww poor thing. Maybe the blinds scare her or something. I'm glad you found a solution. as for rain and poodles. I put on a sweater or raincoat always. Not fun having to bath a poodle after every rainy day outing. Sasha likes for some reason to roll in wet grass. So with the sweater she does not get messy. When its pounding rain, she wears a yellow doggie rain slicker. I try to get out between showers though. I'm glad your back Nessa.
