My dog has just gone into heat. She has been in it one day. I have 3 other dogs and they are all male. It's impossible to keep them off of her and I was going to get her spayed anyway. The vet just misguessed the time we had and want us to wait. The vet says that she can still do the spay tomorrow, but the risk are higher. My daogs are my kids. I'm afraid to do it but keeping the other dogs away is unbearable. What is the risk of dogs that die from a spay? IP: Logged |

hi, it's great that your having your dog spayed. i would not have her spayed till after her heat cycle, keeping the dogs away from her will be a hard task. if by the off chance that one of them does mate with her the vet can still go ahead with the spaying. but i would ask the opinion of another vet about syaping her during her cycle as this is not usually done. keep us posted of how things go IP: Logged |

I have a Staffy cross that recently got hit by another dog that jumped our fence and got her pregnant. I waited for two weeks after her heat cycle then got her spayed only last friday. She is doing great, and It was the best thing i would have done. Jody IP: Logged |
