Im not sure what she is crossed with. We have had a few debats whethere it's a rotty or a kelpie. She's got the lovely colours of a rotty with the browns about her paws and on her eyes. But she also has the white fur on the legs and the belly. So your guess is a good as mine.

I definately see Rotty...but I don't see Kelpie at all. My agility trainer raises Kelpies and there are a couple that I see everyday on my way to the barn...I just don't see any Kelpie in that pic. I do see huggability though.

I see Rotty but I definately do not see any Kelpie there. Either way she looks huggable.

Doberman Pincher's and Rottweiler's have the same unique markings. The rust patches on legs, one on each front shoulder, chin, eye brows, butt and under neath of tail and spots on the cheeks. Your dog to me looks more like Dobie/lab than Rottie.

She's alot smaller than her mother. She's the same height as a Kelpie. She's got a white tip on her tail. My hubby still believes that she is lab/kelpie. He thinks that she would be a bit more taller if she was crossed with a rotty.

She's got the best temprement a dog could ever have and she's very protective like a rotty. If somebody comes into the yard she doesn't no, she'll bark and carry on, but once she gets to no them, she is fine.

We did talk about the father being a kelpie/rotty.

Was the "lab" part a purebred lab? I'm just wondering because I think it's a bit odd that she would be black & tan if one parent was a purebred lab. The reason being that black & tan (actually the "and tan" part is what I'm talking about, the color (black in this case) is determined by a different gene) is a recessive trait, and both parents have to be carrying for it for it to be shown in pups. Unless I'm wrong (and I very well might be), then there would have had to be something else mixed into the lab component for it to be carrying for the "and tan", as I'm pretty sure the "and tan" does not exist in labs.

To give an example, I believe a lab crossed with a rotty would give all solid colored dogs, possibly with a bit of white, but no tan points, because only one "and tan" gene would have been given to each pup. Those pups would be carrying for the "and tan" trait though. If one of them were crossed with another rotty (or any other "and tan" dog), they could produce some carrying for "and tan", some showing "and tan". If they were crossed with another dog with the same genotype (carrying for & tan), they could possibly produce & tans, dogs carrying & tan, and dogs not carrying & tan. Bred with a dog that did not show or carry for & tan, they could produce dogs not carrying or showing the trait, as well as dogs only carrying the trait, but not showing it.

Hope that made sense, and BTW, she's a beautiful dog
