I have a dachshund who is recently pregnant. Im not sure when she got pregnant but her mikl is comming in. The weird thing is she likes to suck on her own nipples for milk. Can anyone explain why she is doing this? I am very worried at this behavior. thanks Alisa

How sure are you that your dog is pregnant?? Some dogs can false pregnancies. You ought to take the dog to the vet to find out if she actually is pregnant and how far along. In my breeding experiences (labs) My mother dog got milk around (4-10 days) before having the pups each time.. (Different dogs) However, I had a Pug who I knew was never bred and she had a false pregnancy. Seh was lactating as well, but.. it was the cat only that was feeding.. lol.

I agree with the above post and wanted to add....while it may appear that she is sucking on her own nipples for milk, its actually quite possible that her nipples are leaking milk and she is simply cleaning herself. A vet trip to find out if she is really pregnant is a great idea.
