Hi...we have a 13 week old lab who's going into his teething stage. He also has a senstive tummy. He's had two bouts of bad diarrhea, both from things he has gotten into in our yard. One was my small garden...we think he ate some green peppers or tomatoes...or both...resulted in bad diarrhea. Recently, he dug a hole and ate a bunch of dirt which also gave him bad diarrhea. He's been checked for parasites and worms, all negative. Our vet thinks it's just things he's eating thats upsetting his tummy. He even eats puffs of cat hair he finds on the floor from our two cats. Have found those when he has thrown up.

Anyway, my question is. He's begun teething and he doesn't seem intersted in the hard nylabones. We gave him an edible Nyla, which the next morning he threw-up what was the color of the bone he'd chewed before bedtime. So, we arn't giving him those anymore. Hard Nylas are the safest for him, but he will only chew on them for a short time. His Kongs he'll use also for a short time, then goes off looking for the things he shouldn't chew.

I don't dare give him rawhide with his stomache. I had one of the rubbier Nylas, but he's such a hard chewer he was eating too much of it.,,,,at least to me he was.

Any advice on what I can give him. We tried those cornstarch chewing bones...threw those up too.

*sigh* I hope he outgrows this sensitive tummy cause with a lab it's impossible to keep them from eating stuff they shouldn't all the time!

Thanks, Jodi

Someone once mentioned a "Chilly Bone" which is made with canvas and you freeze it. It sounded like the perfect toy for a teething puppy...maybe you can try one of those.

Our pup is a vigorous chewer as well, although thankfully she does not seem to have a sensitive tummy. The vet told me to give her Greenies. Supposedly they keep them busy and are totally edible. Ours went through a large one in about 20 minutes, but she did love it!

Not sure if that would upset your little one's tummy or not.
