My dog is 14.5 years old and, naturally, he is getting weaker and less energetic. What kind of treatment is there available for an old dog? Maybe some vitamins or anything of that nature that would make him feel better? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I use a supplement that contains glucosamine-chondroitant in it. Try doing a search for Seatecs Phyto-greens supplement. This has some great things in it for dogs. The glucosamine-chondroitant will help to lubricate your dogs jionts. If he is progressing into very bad athritis. You can tell if he sits or gets up slowly, It would be a good idea to take him to see his vet. He may need some pain mangement. Good luck. The product above is a really good price compared to some of the ones out there.

My vet recommended the glucosamine supplement, a daily vitamin C tablet, and 1/2 of an ascriptin tablet (an over the counter pain killer with coating for stomach upsett.) She is a 16 1/2 year old Siberian Husky and she has pretty bad hip problems. She also paces all the time, and the vet says she probably has a form of doggie alzhiemers and I could give her a 3mg tablet of Melatonin, a natural sedative that helps with the pacing. It is in the vitamin department of the drugstore or grocery store. It has all helped- she seems pretty content these days. All these things are not going to keep her alive forever, but at least I feel like I am doing something to keep her comfortable in her old age. I am sure there are many variations and opinions about supplements, from vets and these boards etc. and a lot of information out there- do your research, talk to your vet and go from there. I also heard that vitamin C is a definite! Try getting a highly quality multi pet tab! The Glucosime C will help with the bones in old age! Exercise is always a plus to help keep our babies strong and flexible!
