Our Tenterfield Terrier (mini foxy) has been very grumpy and has even bitten when he is disturbed then he looks very scared and starts shaking with his tail between his legs.Help us because he was once a very sooky dog and we love him too much to get rid of him. Please!!!

How old is he? Is it possible he is not hearing people approach and is being startled? Many dogs who are deaf or hearing impaired will act this way.
Another thought would be that he should be seen by your vet to rule out a physical issue. If he is in pain, this would also explain the behavior.
After ruling out a physical reason or explanation, I would recommend seeking the advice of a trainer, one with experience. Be very detailed in your description of his behavior, when it started etc.
His behavior is telling you something, if you aren't able to figure it out, seek the help of a professional. Keep us posted, we like to hear how everyone is doing.

I agree with Maisey. Some dogs are just plain skiddish. Was your dog ever abused by anyone. This could factor in.
